Mark Rubin and Michael Condrey of Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games respectively have lifted the lid on the next major downloadable content update for Modern Warfare 3.

But this is no ordinary map pack, DLC Collection 2 is packed to bursting with some really awesome new content. The collection includes two new Spec Ops missions, three multiplayer maps and four new maps for the brand new Face Off game mode. Check out a breakdown of the content below:

Multiplayer Maps DLC Collection 2 features two previously released multiplayer maps in Sanctuary and Foundation as well as one brand new map Oasis, which takes players to the coast of the United Emirates.

Spec Ops The Spec Ops missions in this collection are pretty exciting. Iron Clad is the first mission and re-introduces tank combat to Call of Duty. One player acts as the ground infantryman while the other takes control of a tank. The first player is equipped with C4 to take out various obstacles, while the second player wields multiple weapons inside the tank. The object is to escort the tank back to the coastline and reach extraction.

Kill Switch, the second mission, takes place in Russia. This mission is classic Spec Ops to the core. One player is on the ground, fighting his way through to plant and detonate an EMP bomb while the second player acts as overwatch, equipped with a sniper rifle and thermal scope on the rooftops.

Face Off This is a brand new playstyle, built from the ground up for Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. As Rubin explains, it's not necessarily a new 'game mode' as it incorporates Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed. Face Off matches are 1 v 1 or 2 v 2, taking place on custom built, quick engagement maps. In Face Off matches, you're not going to spend a large amount of time trying to find enemies, but rather will find yourself in quick, frantic engagements often throughout the match.

Face Off matches will be available in 1 v 1 or 2 v 2, depending on how you want to battle. Face Off maps include Aground, Erosion, Lookout and Getaway. These maps will also be available in private matches and split screen.

All of this content is set to hit Xbox Live on May 22nd - or May 15th for Call of Duty Elite premium subscribes - with PlayStation 3 and PC release dates to be announced in the near future.

We're happy to announce that in the coming days we will be launching FPS General, a brand new web community centered around first-person shooters including Modern Warfare 3!

FPS General will cover everything from Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 2 to Tribes: Ascend, Team Fortress 2 and PlanetSide 2. If it is an amazing first-person shooter, we will be bringing you up to the minute news, media and intel on it. This also entails third-person shooters, although we will be a little more demanding in the quality of TPS games that we cover.

The community includes a full YouTube channel, a comprehensive forum and will feature guides, walkthroughs, summaries and so much more for every major first-person shooter on the market.

Launch is tentatively scheduled for next week, and the account that you registered for ModernWarfare3Forum.com with will get you access to FPS General so don't worry about creating a new account or any of that fuss. Just jump on over and join what is sure to be the biggest FPS community on the web!

Post-launch, we are going to be rolling all of our first-person shooter properties, including ModernWarfare3Forum.com into the FPS General, to provide a unified first-person shooter community for readers to get the latest news and discuss their favorite FPS games.

Activision has sent out an announcement letting us know that Modern Warfare 3's Double XP weekend will be kicking off...now!

To celebrate the release of some of the downloadable content releases recently on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Activision and the Modern Warfare 3 & Call of Duty Elite studios are giving out twice as much experience as normal. Whether you plan on jumping into Black Box, Overwatch or one of the first few DLC maps like Liberation or Piazza, you'll be earning double the XP so be sure to take advantage of this chance!

This weekend is the best chance to maximize your XP earnings and make the push to that next Prestige level. We'll be grinding all weekend, but what are your plans? Share with us below in the comments section.

The official Modern Warfare 3 Forum clan has been tearing it up in past clan operations and we've got a few more to add to our schedules this week.

This week, we will be competing in two clan operations. The first clan op is Immovable Force and will require us to put our Hardcore Team Deathmatch hats on. The challenge is to acquire as many Hardcore TDM kills as possible. The clan op starts tomorrow at 5:30PM PST.

Next up, on April 19th - at 2:30PM PST - we'll be competing in the Lethal Jeweler clan operation. Lethal Jeweler will see us fighting to the death to acquire as many confirmed kills as possible in core Kill Confirmed.

Clan members, hit up the Clan Page on Call of Duty Elite to let your clanmates know when you will be online so we can form some parties together to get this thing going!

Activision has released three new content drops for premium Call of Duty Elite subscribers on PlayStation Network.

The content includes one brand new multiplayer map - Black Box - and two brand new Spec Ops missions; Negotiator and Black Ice. We've had a blast on Black Box, a map that features a downed Air Force One in California. As far as Spec Ops goes, Negotiator sees the player and a friend on a mission to breach and clear the hell out of a small town, trying to save as many hostages as possible.

Black Ice, on the other hand, features an epic snow mobile shooting/driving sequence where you and a partner have to raid a mine, taking on all comers and ultimately destroying the structure via explosives.

It's a good week for Modern Warfare 3 DLC, with Activision releasing some brand new multiplayer maps on Xbox Live this morning and the confirmation of this second piece of news. PlayStation Network users will be happy to hear that they will be getting three new pieces of content in just a few short days on April 12th.

The content in question is the multiplayer map Black Box and the two Spec Ops missions, Black Ice and Negotiator. Black Box is a great multiplayer map that blends long sightlines and close quarters combat seamlessly. We've also had a blast trying to master Negotiator and Black Ice - somehow we will insist on shooting the hostages in crossfire.

Activision has released two brand new multiplayer maps for premium Call of Duty Elite subscribers on Xbox Live; Foundation and Sanctuary.

Foundation, featured in the video above, features a ton of verticality or points of low and high altitudes on the map. This means plenty of sniping spots if you can get to a higher point without being killed from the firefight on the ground level. Just watch your back as there are plenty of routes that the opposition can take to flank you and get a knife in your back before you know they're even there.

The second map released today is Sanctuary and naturally takes place on religious grounds. The map features a a monastery, a shrine and cloister area but don't let yourself get too religious or you'll find out that sanctuary is just the name on the map. You don't actually have sanctuary on this map and you'll find yourself with a bullet in your holy lands before you know what happened.
